Wednesday night at The Oar

Been spending evenings in stimulating conversation at The Oar with visiting veteran photographer/producer Carlo 'Chuck' Ontal and his longtime colleague/friends Nap Jamir and Ronnie Lazaro, about his fantastic and wide-ranging working life experiences as TV producer for the United Nations peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo for the past thirteen years or so.

Chuck has been constantly pushing the visual boundaries of both still and film mediums, and redefining what it looks like to witness as well as challenge the normal perceptions of what western media calls photojournalism and news as daily conglomerate-endorsed fodder for an unknowing, image-spoonfed world that makes up a kind of mindless orgy of mass, web-based consumption of pictures and video.

To see what I mean, check out his website.
